1. What is the Indiana Council of Economic Education?
The Indiana Council for Economic Education (ICEE), an affiliate of the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) , is a comprehensive partnership of leaders from business, labor, agriculture, education, and government dedicated to increasing economic literacy in Indiana. Partners contribute over $500,000 each year to support the ICEE Information on ICEE can be found at the ICEE website: http://www.econ-in.org
Established in 1954, the ICEE accomplishes its mission of economic literacy through a comprehensive EconomicsAmerica Program, which consists of:
- Setting Standards
- Training Teachers
- Developing Curriculum
- Providing Curriculum Materials
- Evaluating Results.
2. What is the KidsEcon Posters© curriculum project?
KidsEcon Posters© is a curriculum project of the Indiana Council for Economic Education (ICEE) based at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The KidsEcon Posters©project is dedicated to giving teachers the tools they need to help their students understand the exciting economic world around them - making them more effective producers, consumers, savers, investors, and voting citizens. At the heart of the project are 22 colorful economic posters, each describing an important economic concept identified in the National Standards in Economics and in most state Standards. Posters and color transparencies of the posters are available at theKidsEcon Posters© website at http://www.kidseconposters.com.
3. What are KidsEcon Books© and how do they relate to ICEE and KidsEcon Posters©?
ICEE has staff and volunteer teachers who search for books with economic themes which are relevant to the different economic concepts identified in the KidsEcon Posters©. ICEE educators write a Lesson for each book to provide teachers with a ready-made literature guide for teaching the book. KidsEcon Books© makes these titles available to educators throughout the USA at competitive prices along with the Lesson specific to that title.
4. If I purchase books at TeensEcon Books©, will I receive a discount?
Yes. You will receive a competitive discount generally between 35-40% depending on the number of books ordered. Generally, ordering more than 25 books of the same title will qualify for a higher discount, but as publisher pricing and discounts vary, we cannot be certain that all books we obtain will allow us to offer the same discounts. Please contact us for price quotes so that we can try to provide you with the highest discount possible.
5. Why can’t I purchase books and posters at KidsEcon Books©?
As KidsEcon Posters© are produced and distributed by a different organization, ICEE handles all orders for Posters directly. Please go to the KidsEconPosters.com website to order your posters or poster sets.
6. Can I purchase books with a school Purchase Order?
Yes! In fact, we prefer orders for books to be via Purchase Orders, with shipping directions straight to your school. You can request a quotation from us for the books you want to help in preparation of your Purchase Order. See How To Order for complete instructions.
7. Can I purchase books with a credit card?
We do not accept credit cards at this time for several reasons. First, we do not sell to the general public and the vast majority of our orders are via Purchase Orders from schools. We prefer to invoice schools and teachers once we have shipped books to you for payment by check. And second, by avoiding credit card fees, we help to keep our costs low and our discounts high.!
8. How long will it take for the books I order to be delivered?
We try to keep copies of all titles in stock based on demand. However, we may need to order from the publishers directly to fulfill an order completely. Generally we advise a 10-14 day turnaround of initial order receipt to shipment of your book order. In any case, we will keep you advised of the status of your order, and will be happy to provide UPS tracking information to you when we ship your order.
9. Can I purchase the same books you list at KidsEcon Books© at my local store or at another internet book seller, and still download the Lessons you have on your site?
Yes, you may. However, as we not only provide a very competitive discount, by ordering from us, you will be supporting ICEE and the KidsEcon Posters© curriculum project through your purchase. In any case, the Lessons for the books are made freely available to any educator/teacher interested in using the Lessons.
